One day

.

One day she came back to the old city,
Hoping to see her former juvenile lover.
She felt airily happy
To find her old dreams revived.

How sad the old city was!
The abandoned verandas covered with moss and grass,
Buried all of her golden past,
Love and juvenile dreams.

Returning to her quiet boarding room,
Looking at the lamp flickering,
She tried to figure her juvenile lover’s feature in her mind,
And to revive her happy past time.

After thirty years,
Her hair turned gray.
Some children called her ‘Grand ma’.
She thought of her youth, though.

She hoped to see her lover again
To remind him of their love story,
The lovely echo of happiness
Found in the ash of time.

Where is he now?
On an end of the river or on the other one?
In the jungle or mysterious mountains?
Where reign wilderness and silence.

The chilly North wind blew,
Freezing her heart and liver.
“Oh! Wind! Stop blowing!
Let me say hello to him!”
